Karim Khan: Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

Background and Experience

Karim Asad Ahmad Khan KC was appointed Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in June 2021. He is a British lawyer specializing in international criminal law and human rights law.

Khan has a distinguished career in international law. He has represented prominent individuals, including Kenya's Deputy President William Ruto and Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Current Role as ICC Prosecutor

As ICC Prosecutor, Khan oversees investigations and prosecutions of individuals accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Less than nine months into his tenure, Khan has made significant announcements.
